4 Cultural Trends that Need to End

A very dear Pastor once told me, “if you want to grow and see real change in your life, you’ve got to own your stuff!”  Now, I’ve heard that statement put in more colorful terms, but the gist of the message is, take a hard look at yourself and the areas in your life that could use some improvement and change!  The Bible sums this up nicely in Psalm 139 verses 23-24:

Search me, O God, and know my heart!
Try me and know my thoughts!
And see if there be any grievous way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting!

It’s all too easy to fall into patterns of thinking and acting that seem completely acceptable, yet at the same time can be very destructive to ourselves and our relationships with others.  If we are wise, it’s good to take a personal inventory from time to time and allow God to search us, to know our hearts and what’s going on inside of us that may be causing upset and then ask Him to lead us in ways that are right and healthy and bring life and healing into our relationships.

The following article from All Pro Dad caused me to pause and give thought to how I am spending my time and what I am allowing to influence my thinking.  Check it out and then ask yourself, what cultural trends am I allowing to negatively influence my life and the lives of those I love?
